“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.” (Philippians 2:9)

Is This Your Life?

Does a typical weekday for you go something like this? The alarm sounds and it's time to get up and go to work, cook, and pick up the kids. How about Sunday? You go to church, go home, and then get ready for the afternoon church service. Before you know it, your weekend is over and it's Monday again. This seems to be a never ending cycle and you begin to feel like a robot—as if life is controlling you. Things become overwhelming and frustrating because there seems to be no excitement -- just monotony. You've lost yourself in the lives of everyone else, and you can't seem to get a moment's rest. What can you do to change all this?

First, recognize that you can't do it all; you do need some down time. Take some quiet time with God and for yourself. During these precious moments of solitude, pray and ask God some soul searching questions. Ask God what He wants you to do. What is your purpose and how do you find it? Think for a moment: what drives you to tears and motivates you to take action? The answers may help you discover your purpose.

As you talk with God, create a life schedule listing everything that is a priority in your life. Examples could be: time with God, household chores, work, obligations with family, church, and yes, time to do something you enjoy.

Look in the mirror and ask, “Do I really know myself?” As you take this self-evaluation, these are questions you should consider: what time of the day are you most attentive? Under what conditions do you find yourself to be most productive? Could it be early in the morning or late at night? Do you work better alone or in a group? Is now the right time to take action or should you be resting at the feet of Jesus through Bible study, prayer and a willingness to hear His voice when He speaks? This intimate time with God is so important. It gives you encouragement, peace, and a sense of direction.

For those of you who feel God leading you to write, our new section, Write On will help you to jumpstart your writing whether you are a beginning writer, or even if you are an intermediate or veteran writer who needs a little push to keep pursuing your call.

As a writer, I have found that putting my thoughts on paper helps me to decide what's most important during certain seasons of my life. For instance, I write down all the things that I'm doing. I question how these activities will help me, and then I ask God what's important to Him. I think about my passions and my desires and try to see in what direction God is leading me. One of my greatest convictions is seeing lost people come to know Christ as their Savior. Many people think I'm strange for sharing my faith or passing out my tracts. My only explanation is that it's my God-given passion. I can't help it! In fact, my favorite section, Evangelistic Tips, entitled, Hurricane Warning: Be A Witness For Christ! discusses the importance of knowing Christ, and sharing your faith with others.

Regardless of the obstacles we face in life, we are still called to fulfill our God given destinies in His season. The one thing God tells us to do is to be fruitful; but how can we when we're overwhelmed by life's circumstances?

When we pray, plan, and take action by the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will experience joy and God will ultimately get the glory. Afterall, the Bible tells us that even God believes in planning. One of His greatest plans was when He sent His Son to die for our sins.
