Evangelistic TipsAre You Hungry? If you were to die tonight are you 100% sure you would go to heaven? If your answer is “no” click on “Appetizer” If your answer is “yes” click on “Main Course”
It's the same in life. God made everyone to have a hunger for Him. However, we try so many different things hoping they will satisfy this desire and connect us to Him. Nevertheless, trying different things such as sex, drugs, or even religion, for instance won't help. God wants the best for you. He wants you to have a relationship with Him. In fact, He has a Way to help you with this relationship. This Way is Jesus Christ, and He declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” God is the Father and Jesus is the only Way to the Father. Although you may not know this, we were born with a defect. This defect is known as sin. It has crippled us in every way: our actions, words, deeds, and even our thinking. It's something we can't get rid of on our own. For this reason God required a death so we could be healed of this deformity. He didn't require you to die; but He required that Jesus die for you. In other words, Jesus Christ became your Substitute. He took your place on the cross. This is God's Gift to you. While most appetizers will cost you something, this one is free. It was paid for by Jesus Christ. All you have to do is receive this gift by faith. Believe that He died for your sins. You don't have to be a good person or try to get yourself together. Jesus took care of everything on the cross. He loves you so much, and He's waiting for you to come to Him by faith. No strings attached.
It's the same in the spiritual realm. God's Word says, “Oh taste and see that the Lord is good.” You first experienced the Lord when you accepted Him as your personal Savior. This was your spiritual appetizer; but are you hungry enough for the main dish: to get one on one and personal with Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ wants you to be more than just “saved and satisfied.” He wants you to experience Him on a daily basis, as you would a meal. He wants you to take in the nutrients of walking with Him so you can fulfill your purpose. This is more than saying, “I love the Lord,” and it's more than just going to church on Sunday or even attending weekly Bible Study. God wants an intimate connection. This is what happened to the woman with the issue of blood. She pressed her way through all types of adversities: poverty, sickness, and other people just to get to Jesus. As a result, she got the blessing of being connected with Him. What about you? Are you a struggling Christian, trying to understand why life is nothing more than going through the motions? Like the woman with the issue of blood, you've got to get hungry for God. You've got to overcome your past hurts, negative thinking, and excuses for not wholeheartedly seeking the Lord. There's a call that God has for each one of us: to share the Gospel that men and women might be saved. You may say, “It's not my calling.” However, let me ask you: “What if the person who led you to Christ felt this way? Would you be saved today or would you still be seeking the truth?” God desires for you to take some time with Him, prepare yourself by studying His Word, and obey His call to be a blessing to others. He wants you to be a witness by sharing the greatest meal ever known to man: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For in due season, He will reveal His purpose for your life.
